I've been using this for awhile without any problems. I think I first learned of it here. Thinking.gif

EDIT:  Yep, I did find out about that here. (Thanks Mayo!)

Funny thing... I just now used Jumpcut to copy and paste a URL and title in another thread, then I stumbled upon this.

Jumpcut is one of my Must Have Apps. And it's free!

Jim, when I read your title on this thread I thought that you were referring to an iPhone/iPod Touch "app." We may need to consider switching to the term "application" when referring to Mac programs vs. iPhone/iPod Touch software since the word "app" is becoming synonymous with the relatively tiny programs written for the mobile platform...

I've been trying in vain to get this thing to open/install. It downloads as a ".tar" file, not a .tgz file, and when I double click on it, converts itself to a .tar.cpgz file (which re-archives itself when it's clicked...) I even downloaded and installed UnArchiver to see if it could handle it, and it can't open it either - "Contents of jumpcut_0.63.tar cannot be opened with this program" even though it normally handles .tar files and .tgz and a whole host of others. Of course, the OS should be able to handle it too.

Methinks there may be something wrong with that file. sad.gif Anyone else try it? It looks useful - I'd like to have it.

I'm positively, absolutely sure that it is all your fault, Paddy! But I am in the middle of a really big hassle with an old-maid, very eccentric, no living relative who give a hoot aunt that is in desperate need of a rational, non-paranoid mind to help her. Although I very loosely fit that second description, it appears I have been railroadedselected. But, due to my extreme loyalty to TS and the everlasting happiness of our admin, I will devote countless hours investigating your complaint. tease.gif

Mayo, your suggestion is appropos. But I often guilty of laziness, especially when it comes to 'writing.' rolleyes.gif

In this instance I think that you are blameless.  You are merely the victim of a changing paradigm, computer jargon-wise...

I understand that Apple has relatively deep pockets; one of those lawyers that advertise on TV during the day may be willing to take your case. A "finder's/ambulance-chaser fee" can be paid to my PayPal account.

Paddy, I think that there is a problem with the file. When I try to open it I get an error message stating that there is  "no such file or directory."

Paddy, my download of the application earlier today shows as a ".tgz" file. Now, to double-click it...
"Expander" quickly appears as the active application in the Menu Bar, but I get a warning that the files doesn't appear to be compressed..." "Expander," of course, is part of the old program StuffIt which I has been folded into the OS (maybe as far back as Tiger). Default Apps (a program for the Macintosh, I'll fire off a message about the confusing name to the developer) shows ".tgz" extensions set to their 'Default Application" which is "Archive Utility.app (10.5.1)," part of the system CoreServices. I may as well CC: Apple about those extensions, also...

Opening Archive Utility itself and selecting "Expand Archive" presents the usual Find dialog, but selecting the JumpCut_0.63.tgz still does absolutely nothing. Not even a "Excuse me, but I don't know what to do with that file, are you sure you know what YOU are doing?!"

Guess you can delete this thread until I find out what's going on...if I can. dntknw.gif Sorry for the confusion. I have made a habit of checking my links, but I did not try decompressing the file due to other tasks. tears.gif

Kimmer, it is not "text speak."  I have never "texted" in my life nor do I ever plan on doing it in the future.

BTW, how do you scream in "text speak?" It might come in handy some day...

You Poor Folks who lack AT&T's stellar customer service have my sympathy. iPhone Envy is a terrible thing but it can be treated. The first step in the (naturally) 12-step program: admit that you are powerless over Apple's advertising and the glowing reports from family and friends who are fortunate enough to own an iPhone.

Or you can just get an iPod Touch and chant this mantra: "Screw AT&T." Then it's just a One Step program...

See? This is what happens when y'all become bleeding cutting edge Mac users. harhar.gif I'm not on the edge (except for living on the edge of the world, but that's a 'horse of a different color' - hehehe) and I was able to download, open and run it. If any of you bleeding cutting edgers want to try this app, drop me a note and I'll get you a copy you can open.

I really do miss the old scrapbook. sad.gif I stored all manner of text, graphics and sounds. You could make more than one scrapbook, and so I had several - all organized by topic. See, there's another thing I could have put in my defunct thread.

I'm glad to hear this. Now I don't have to worry about you going over the final edge. tongue.gif

I've emailed the developer AND SourceForge about the defective download file. Here's hoping someone fixes it! And thank you for sending it to me, Kimmer. If anyone else wants it, PM Kimmer or me - we'll send you the zipped file. smile.gif

I still use CopyPaste as well as DropDrawers and its new incarnation ... DragThing.

Both do text as well as images. Not free but very comprehensive.  smile.gif

Source Forge hasn't fixed anything yet. Do I need to PM one of you to tell you I will be sending a PM for you to send me the working file?

More importantly, how did you unzip the file, kimberly? By using Tiger?! eek2.gif Or another 'decompression' app? Thinking.gif

Copy on its way to you, Jim.

I downloaded by using the link you originally posted. Then I simply 'double-clicked' on the TGZ file and it unstuffed. I'm guessing that Stuffit Expander did the deed.

To get it to Paddy, and now to you, I right-clicked on the app and selected 'make archive' and then sent the zip file to you two fine folks.

I'm running 10.4.11. If that's Tiger, then I'm running Tiger. I've never been able to keep the cat names straight. Seriously. My brain just doesn't work that way.  tease.gif

You think cat names are hard, wait till they start using Greek god/goddess names!!! eek2.gif
In reverse order: Leopard, Tiger, Panther, Cougar, Kitty, Marshal Dillon. May have the order of the earliest ones backwards... dntknw.gif
