Want to see a Coolpix 990 Hotspot?

Any of you who own a digital camera will likely experience "dead spots" and "hotspots" in the image sensor.

Here's what one looks like... up close!!

Set your camera in manual mode. Keep the lens cap on and take a long exposure. You may not see anything until you look at a closeup view. Then it will start showing hotspots, especially if they're as large as my sample.

If you look at my sample, it's more than one pixel. It's affecting 32 pixels!

Don't know how you enlarged the 'hotspot' and still keep what you've shown Bruce F?


Can tell you after enlarging the target spot in PS passed 800% and then taking a controlled snap shot,then working with the snap shot doesn't EVEN cut it. /sigh\

Not even gonna tell ya about trying sharpening>sharpening edges>mask>all the various color adjustments>curves .. during this and that stages. Tried them all front/backwards/inside out/upside down etc blah blah blah. Had layers all over the desktop looking like meat sitting in 100 plus weather for days. If they moved other than my mouse pointer ............ ¢¶º£ª!!!

OH! I just did. Whoops. <insert smile of bone-head here>

Was interesting wasting a few hours in PS instead of doing something really boring like help find the leaks in my neighbors pool liner from the inside in this 90 degree day. <grrr> <gr>

 Photoshop wasn't able to go that big so I used OS X Preview. I have no idea how it was able to get that close in.
