OS9 sound control panel
« on: July 07, 2009, 07:26:46 PM »
At least...MDD  back to life ...

Chris sent me the new Rom

But just after booting  on 9.2.2 , went to sound control panel output and impossible to adjust, when i put the cursor to full  tease.gif it revert back to zero...

Input ,saying  impossible to adjust the input source cause  it's used by another application

Used Process info to see ... there's no other application running, only finder and launcher Thinking.gif

(Tryed also to revert to the old rom, zap pram and rebuild th desktop)

What can be this new joke?

Trash the sound preferences file and reboot.

See if any app like QuickTime may have set a sound volume. I am having trouble remembering what programs in 9 might be at fault.

Or you could try this application (Substitute Pro) I found that supposedly has the ability to adjust the sound level (and do a lot of other things).

Read about it here:

Download it here:

A page of programs for OS 9 that might be of interest to you. I saw some old friends on that page. smile.gif

Chris sent me the rom from his MDD and now i can boot from the ATA bus and drives are seen smile.gif

Tryed  also to install whith a 9.2.1 cd  but it's not supported whith  the MDD;

The best way would be to buy a  specific MDD  but it seems that it's not avalaible separatly...

Anybody got one or a link to buy..?

Thanks

GR, do you have "Conflict Catcher"?

That program was usually quite helpful in isolating these types of conflicts.

If you can't find it, I'll try to see if I can get my hands on a copy...

And just for yucks, maybe there was a change in the sound control panel in that particular build of 9.2.2, and if I have time today before I leave, I'll send it to you.

Found  on a forum

At this point, sound will not work as there is no "sound space" driver for the Texas Instruments sound chip set). Copy the sound space extension from another G4MDD system folder and restart to get the sound working.
This extension is only installed when using the original G4 MDD install CDs. In is not contained in any updates

Chris sent me the  MDD soud control panel but it can't be opned ...maybe cause " sound space extension" is needed Thinking.gif

Do you have it..?

I've re-emailed the Sound Control Panel to GR, and he was able to open it and install it with along with these extensions that  I also emailed him: Sound Manager, SoundSpace2Lib, SoundSprocket Filter, SoundSprocketLib.

These are from the original install on my dual MDD 1.25. I'm beginning to wonder if there was another "machine specific" install for the single MDD that GR has.

From what I've seen in the various threads over this Mac that GR bought, Tom and Al may have the same machines... can one of you see what's in your System Folder, and see if that SoundSpace2Lib is there, or whether it's a different Extension? I'm trying to find my original install Disks for my machine, but it may not do GR any good if there was something specific to the single 1.25 MDD on the original disks that was different on the Dual 1.25.

TIA,

Chris  Thinking.gif

The good news is that my MDD Dual has been fired up for over a week, and it seems to be working again for whatever reason.  rolleyes.gif

okay, very bizarre.... I am able to boot into OS 9, but, am not able to try anything since my mouse won't click (tried 2 different mice).  It moves, but, no clicking on anything.  Getting back to OS X is not easy either.  When coming back my screen won't come on and I have to zap my pram.  Then restart from my Tiger CD and choose my OS X system in start up items.  Weird is that OS 9 works fine in Classic.

Sorry, ADSR, no help here.  But, this is what I have for sound parts.

soundspace2lib 2.0.4
sound manager 3.6.7
sound sprocket filter 1.0
sound sprocketlib 1.0

Let me know if you want to try any of these and I can zip it up and send it to you.
