Thank you for this link, Im saving it for my husband to read when he gets home from his Grand Canyon rafting trip.
2 weeks ago, my brother's father in laws house got hit and fried every single electronic thing in the entire house. Nothing caught on fire thankfully.
Its about 2 miles from our house. Nasty storm it was.
We have one lightning arrestor, a weathervane with a pointed top, connected to a separage wire running down the side of the house and into a separate ground rod.
And our entire electrical system is grounded to our well pipe in the cellar. There is another ground outside that the phone or elec company put in.
So I can see that we probably should see if this is done properly, as we sure do get some nasty storms here.
We do have trees much taller than the house in the yard, but it still makes me nervous, as my brother's house has also been hit.
When my husband reads this link, we might decide to have someone with this type of knowledge check to see if we are properly protected.
I do pull the cable out of the modem and shut the Macs down, I wonder what else can be done to make it really safe.
