OK, maybe hideous is a little over the top... (I just looked up "hideous" in the dictionary.)  How about very difficult to learn?

I think hideous is appropriate here, at least according to the dictionary I consulted.

Maybe different dictionaries present different info...

What?! You don't understand that script? OK, 2 sites are back up there and the third one (bucharestian.com) needs some facelifts and submenus to look better and that will take a while. Meanwhile, could anyone tell me what I need to save in order to make the backup of the unpublished sites in iweb? More precisely, where I find the files I want to save...
Thank you all and happy rockradio1.com to all smile.gif

Alex, you're looking for ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites - which is a bundle. You can open the bundle if you wish with "show package contents." As you probably already know, there are no HTML page files there - when you publish your site, iWeb generates the pages from the xml file and your images. If you back up the files, make sure the backups work - open them in iWeb to see that everything is there.

Hi Alex,
Welcome to TS!
You have a beautiful site!  Your pictures are wonderful!

This is a great question you have posted and some wonderful answers too.
I just went thru a similar thing, but in addition to my Mac crashing, the server for one of my sites crashed too!  Lost all our files. I was able to find most of mine on my external HD, but not all of them, the ones I had changed and the new stuff I had not gotten the time to back up.

I have used iWeb also, but I am not good at using it.
Here is my first site with it, check out all my mistakes,,,,,,,,,

Looking at the code, whew, so much, too much for me to understand.

I am learning Dreamweaver, but that has a HUGE learning curve.
So I tend to just do stuff with plain html and css.
Jane

Edit, I forgot to say, that doing those slide shows like you have is very difficult to do by hand, so in that case iWeb is better. I am trying to learn how to do them using DW, but its difficult.
Im enjoying your wonderful pictures of the beautiful mountains.

Actually, Jane, you could create a slide show that is very much like the one that iWeb creates by using JAlbum. It's a javascript slide show - no real magic. I don't use Dreamweaver to create slide shows - I do use JAlbum and it couldn't be easier. Plus you CAN easily hand edit the HTML if you need to (customize the template etc.) which you cannot do with iWeb's slide show if all you're using is iWeb.

One aside - Jane, have you looked at your iWeb site on a PC? The reason I ask is that the primary font you've used is Futura, which won't be found on basic Windows systems unless the user has things like Photoshop or InDesign or Quark Xpress installed, so chances are, most of the world will be seeing Trebuchet (the second font specified in the CSS). It's too bad that there aren't more common shared system fonts - most of us web designers are really, really tired of the limited selection we have now and the various workarounds out there aren't entirely ready for prime time yet and there is still lots of quibbling about how to implement things going on behind the scenes.

http://www.zeldman.com/2009/07/20/web-fonts-html-5-roundup/

And there is also the development of HTML 5, which is still a long way from final release, though elements of it will be implemented long before that.

http://perishablepress.com/press/2009/07/1...-of-html5-css3/

Cool stuff - but not widely supported in browsers yet. Until MS, Mozilla, Apple and Google get fully on board with the SAME parts, nobody can use those parts reliably. Right now, each browser supports a few things - but generally not the same few things. Sigh.

Hi Paddy,
Gee, I had forgotten about my JAlbum!
http://www.jcdouglass.net/flood/index.html
I didnt realize that I can use the code to make others.  I did have some trouble uploading the stuff to my own site rather than leave it on my jalbum account.
The html, css, and js I will copy from this one and make some new albums!
Thank you for reminding me, and letting me know that I can use the code to do this too. I was struggling to do it with Dreamweaver and still havent gotten it working.
Jane
