The hitchhiking bird is a bit suspicious but most of the others are quite possible.

I'd be suspicious too, in his position! eek2.gif Reminds me of the monkey getting a ride across the river on the back of an alligator! Thinking.gif

Having been dive-bombed by a red-winged blackbird and seen our cats getting menaced last year (it was quite funny - the cats were complaining to me about it!) I had no difficulty believing that one would take on a hawk.

And I was right, apparently - here's the story straight from the photographer, with more photos:

There's actually a word for these attacks, anyone want to guess?

Secondarily, I made reference to a monkey and an alligator and I wanted to post a link to the story. Apparently, I am either confused or crazy or, more likely, both! I've been working most of the day but spent (wasted!) a good deal of time Googling about monkeys, alligators, crocodiles, foxes, rivers, stories, allegories, etc. and can find nothing to support the story stuck in my mind. Instead, I find dozens about a croc trying to get a monkey's heart for his wife! Unfortunately, they all have the croc being outsmarted by the monkey who livers happily ever after! dntknw.gif

Nice shot! Just luck that the tree happened to be in front of the camera! You never know! BTW, what's that thing with red stuff near its top? Next time, see if you can get it to move along so you can get a better shot of the tree... tease.gif

Oh, I remember! That's a piloted woodpecker! wallbash.gif Groaner.gif

cheer.gif  I can vouch for the picture of the five puppies eating.  When I was about 12 years old, we had six St. Bernard puppies and they would line up like that to eat.
