Alert Message upon Startup-OS 10.2.6 ?
« on: June 08, 2003, 09:22:03 AM »
I have 3 users profiles on my configuation.

My son Sam is one of them.

When he logs in and his Desktop loads this message appears:

You have inserted a disk containing no volumess that OSX can read. To
continue with the disk inserted, click ingnore.

The problem is there is no CD in the Superdrive-CD tray.  rolleyes.gif

Does anyone know what's going on here and how to get rid of the message?  wallbash.gif

I have DiskWarrior 3 but have yet to run it for this problem.

TIA
Gary S

No ideas, from here, Gary.

I have a fictitious person as my 3d profile (in an unsuccessful effort to see how I might get my Genie back from" early retirement") but I've never seen any kind of warning like you've experienced.

Sorry.

Be sure to  give us a report on how the new DW works. I'm still waiting for mine . . . several weeks, now.

Hey Gary, just out of curiosity, what happens if you login as Sam and insert a CD or DVD in the drive and then remove it and restart??? huh.gif

Gary, As a guess...

Have Sam log in with his screen name and insert/load a couple of CDs (both music and data) and then quit the app that is playing them. Then eject the CD. I am hoping that will clear the app and thus the alert.

PS Great suggestion Rob! clap.gif

Well I never said it would work. I only said I was curious about what would happen if you tried. Now I know.-- Nothing.  harhar.gif  BTW Gary, we may lose, but we do it with our bats uncorked!! nono.gif

Gary, Another suggestion that may not work...

Since it is only Sam who has this problem, any chance of creating a new User for him, move his old files over to his new name, a few at a time, until you find the culprit/corrupted file, and then deleting the old Sam?

Harv,

That's certainly an option heh! wink.gif If worse comes to worse I'll have to do that.

What's weird is that if you let the message just sit there on the screen and don't click on the "ignore" button it just fades away in about 30 seconds and all is well.  huh.gif

So in essence, if you don't ignore it the computer does.  wacko.gif

I would think it would be something in his Startup Folder but there's nothing in there. The Log-in preference I mean.

Rob,

You know I was only kidding. I almost bought a Phillies cap at the sports store today....they were 40% off. I may go back and get it.

Cubs and Yankees tonight on ESPN! Corked bats and all! laugh.gif

Harv,

DW 3.0 didn't have an affect. I have a feeling it's an invisible file somewhere.  wacko.gif
