Figure it's time for another of those "look what I found" threads...

So - list your most recent finds in the freeware/shareware department. Not the stuff everyone knows about (like Onyx) but the gems you've uncovered in your travels.

Another gem I couldn't live without is ColorTagGen - great for color picking when designing web sites or in any application that doesn't access the Color Picker in OS X.

<Maintenance> (scroll down a little, it's just below the OnyX downloads), from Titanium Software, makers of OnyX. Seems to be a subset of the functions in OnyX. It has a very limited but extremely easy to use GUI. And, it's also free, of course.

Posted about a problem I recently had and found this app helpful in spotting the excessive sized files that were part of the problem. <GrandPerspective> There are similar apps, this one is free and seems quite stable and fast. One-trick pony but doesn't buck and needs minimal "hay."

Does the On-line Color Scheme Selector have a stand-alone app. Or must it be accessed from the Web.?

I think not. But it does have several ways of printing out your 'color scheme.' Remember, also, that their colors are probably many more than you'll really need. Most people suggest staying with a principle color (or two max) and sparing use of a couple more, mainly for emphasis/contrast/attention/detailing. So, for that purpose, you might try the link Paddy offered for <ColorTagGen>, which is a stand alone app.

I just hope you have better color appreciation/respect/use than I DO.

I would like to change the color of folder icons. Right now I have Color Labels an old piece of sftware that works by placing a folder over one of its color bars. However, it sometimes fsil to take. Can I use Fasticns to do this?

Tom, if you want to change all your folders you would be better off with one of the icon sets that you can get around the web.

But if you want to change them here and there, yes, the Fasticns will work. You can use various images to replace the ones you want. But if all you want to do is change the color, you can do that by Control+click and pick a label color.
