This whole thing is ridiculous in my eyes.
Its so few compared to standard accidents, that it is only Toyota bashing by the media.
Other vehicles have had similar problems. But are they being media-trashed like Toyota? No. How many recalls?
What would you do if your engine raced? Wouldn't you stomp the brake, and shift it into neutral and shut off the ignition?
Where are we coming to, does the industry have to do this for us. Will they have to tell us that we have to put the brakes on if a human or dog runs out in the street in front of us? No we should be able to do it by ourselves.
My dad's old Buick with its state of the art cruise control did this on a regular basis many many years ago. He stomped the brake, shut off the cruise control knob, as the brake was not doing it as it was supposed to, restarted the thing, and then after it did this about 100 times. Removed the fuse.
Gee, cant we helpless humans deal with stuff?
How about Sullenburger, he dealt with something.
And this is a very rare thing, its just been blown way out of proportion, as the media seems to love to do nowadays.
