On a totally selfless note, I am prepared to test drive and own one for Techsurvivors.  I will report back all my finding.

My birthday is on 12th August.  Please feel free to send me an iPad with or without webcam!

That will teach me to post when I've not had enough sleep! tongue.gif

To clarify...I know only too well where the children are. One is asleep on the sofa downstairs - in the room he is supposed to be cleaning up, pending the arrival of his friend from North Andover later this afternoon. The other one is annoying me with YouTube videos on his computer across from mine...because he has no headphones!

(WHAT do they do to them, anyway?! - mine have never broken, but I can't count how many they've gone through since owning iPods)

And I meant JULY, not June. rolleyes.gif

Actually...the Source (formerly known as Radio Shack, now owned by Circuit City...) has a good sale on Sony headphones right now, so may go there.

rofl.gif Teenagers are designed to destroy everything they touch! They were created by companies that make "Stuff" so they can have an endless market for it.

Down here, it's now called the "Shack." Ironic since it was/is full of junque... I guess they got tired of fighting reality! dntknw.gif

At the moment there is no working webcam for the iPad. Some companies are working on it.

Others could do so if Apple includes iChat in a software release.

Supposedly the next version of the iPad may have a built in camera (but I would have it off anyway... smile.gif)

-----

Interesting tidbit:  I drove to my folks' house on Sunday aft in a raging storm with rain coming down in torrents. When I got to their house I found myself just sitting in the driveway waiting for a break to dash into the house. No umbrella would have kept me dry under those conditions. Then I had an idea.  Got out my iPod Touch and dialed into their wireless network, loaded Safari and went online to check out the local radar. I could tell that the main rain cell was passing overhead and in about 10 minutes the worst would be past.  In the meantime I read some of the posts here at TS.  Sure enough, I was able to get out of the car and inside shortly thereafter.

But, if you'd had an iPad, you could have just used it as an umbrela since it's just a giant Touch!!! rofl.gif
