Must have been a really slow news day for this to have even
made the news. It's what known as a
smash-and-grab and they're not uncommon. The thieves who hit the
NJ store and stole 23 Macbook Pros, 14 iPhones and 9 iPods in 31 seconds did a whole lot more planning (theirs was smash and grab on a grand scale) and it wasn't the sort of carefully planned theft that wiped out Jane's local Mac reseller. It's why jewelers don't leave stuff in their display windows overnight and why so many stores in big cities have grills that they close at night. I'm actually surprised the Apple Store didn't have stronger glass. (A grill wouldn't have looked good!)

I had to laugh at this one too! It would be nice if they got the product names right... (and that $599 "smartphone" was undoubtedly an iPhone as well)
This actually was the second time this store was hit. The last time about a year and half ago, they broke the door, but security rounded the corner shortly after they did. They got away...but empty handed!
