Somehow, "Thanks" doesn't seem appropriate...but I have bookmarked it. Of course, it will have no effect on those "It'll never happen to me" folks...so sadly.

Like Jim  says....

The mix of clips proves national boundaries do not limit human stupidity or carelessness. Quite a few are shown on UK cop-chase shows. It was also interesting how genuine clips had been mixed with stunted ones. The British level-crossing ones are genuine CCTV shots.

A regular TV ad (Government info film) over here should be shown to anyone who exceeds speed limits, particularly in built-up areas.

Just a few weeks ago, a local wrote, in a letter-to-the-editor, of his disdain for those driving only 5 - 10 miles over the 55MPH speed limit on the local Interstate loop around the city. He suggested that those sluggards simply get off "his" roads and stick to the regular city streets. After all, everyone "knows" that the Interstates were designed for traveling at 75+MPH! So far, I've seen no supporting. And, apparently, many felt inclined to (re)educate the fellows about road conditions and other factors that just might cause one to not drive even the posted speed limit, even if the cops weren't present. rolleyes.gif It was amazing to actually see the arrogance of this 'human!' I guess the best I can wish for him is that his insurance agent didn't read the letter...Or, maybe he is the best driver in the world! He'd better be, because there are some real idiots on our roads around here. Apparently, this fellow can mind-read, so he has advanced warnings of the stupid things they will do. On the other hand, I think he is making a big mistake if he is relying on the brains of those people...even if they do think before they act, I doubt heir brain waves could escape their bone(y) heads! laughhard.gif

It is seemingly behavior that none of us is immune to; sadly enough!  It reminds me of "driver education" films we saw in high school in the 1970's; except here you see damaged people as well as wrecked cars!  Maybe they should watch this instead of putting the car wreck on the lawn of the high school in town; or maybe both things!

I had to stop part way thru,,,,,,,,,,Might be a good one to show to kids who have been in minor accidents, and are known to be repeat offenders.
The older we get, the more careful we become.  I dont drive at night nowadays, unless its unavoidable.
There have been some pretty awful accidents here recently involving motorcycle deaths, and our newspaper is beginning to put up some pretty graphic photos. I guess they are hoping that seeing these pictures and reading the articles, will perhaps make someone think before they do something stupid, maybe save a life or 2.
Thanks for posting this, even tho I couldnt view it all.

There probably is no way to know how much good these do, if any.

Reminds me of the "venereal disease" films we saw in high school during World War II.

Yes, that is so true.  Thats one reason I drive a big old GMC 4wd Suburban, if a motorcycle or small car careens into us, its a higher probablilty that we will not be wiped out.
Hopefully that is.

(Several years ago, our daughter and I were driving in her nice little Honda Civic and got hit by a lobsterman in his really old Chevy pickup.  The Honda was totalled, we had to tow it off the highway with our GMC into a parking lot, and the lobsterman had a dented front licence plate.  Nobody hurt, so we all got a good laugh out of that.)

Jane, I believe you've got it right on the nose!  A lot of people are talking about how "intrinsically safe" a vehicle is because of the crumple zones and the modern materials that were used to build it; but larger size along with a good roll cage can negate a lot of that.  I think the one factor that makes me a better or worse driver is my ability to scan the road in a constant manner and stay alert to things that are abnormal to the traffic flow patterns!  We almost need to lock the cellphones and other distractions in the trunk; well maybe not the children, but the other distractions!   whistling.gif

A friend of mine has a message that says "If my phone is off I'm probably driving. Leave a message and I'll get back to you when I park up."

Surprising the number of teenagers who are riding their bikes and on their phones. Though I havent seen one texting yet.

The other day a car passed me(I was on my bike, back road), and both the driver and the passenger were yakking on their phones.

I passed a car the other day that was going slower than normal for that highway and weaving from side to side in the lane. As I glanced over at him I saw that he was looking down in his lap, most likely texting.  rant.gif

Yesterday's news videos showed a woman who was texting on the highway, she ended up under a huge truck. She didnt have a seat belt on, and ended up becoming airborne and died instantly. I couldnt watch the whole video.  Sad way to die, and so stupid.  I sure wouldnt want to have been driving that truck, what a tragic ordeal.

Saw a girl on a bike 2 days ago texting!  Both hands on the phone on and off, and she was wobbling all over the road,,,,,,, its a back road with very little traffic, but she was quite startled when I came along in my truck behind her. Bumpy old road, so I knew she would hear me eventually, as she didnt have earbuds in.
Of course I had my foot on the brake and was only going about 10 mph.
She cranked her head around and looked at the front grille and put the phone in her pocket and got both hands back on the handlebars of her bike.
Her backpack was dangling off her left arm banging upon her bike too.
Gee, what a stupid kid. Glad she wasnt driving,,,,,,eh?
