Apple introduces Magic Trackpad

I've been 'toying' with getting a Bamboo (the <Bamboo Touch, $50> looks to be quite similar but has four programmable buttons...), but I usually wait a few years before making an "impulse" purchase. rofl.gif The Bamboo Pen does allow use of fingers/gestures and a pen. However, both/all Bamboo pads are USB powered, so you have one of those unsightly, desktop-cluttering, oh-so-last-Century cable!!! eek2.gif laughhard.gif

This could make a good choice, assuming it can handle stylus input. I rather doubt it can, but one may be able to specify the size of the pointer for various apps. OTOH, most graphics apps don't really use the size of the finger when moving the cursor...

Frankly, however, I'm sad to see all these things becoming wireless (even though I've had one iPhone cable almost ruined by cat nibbling!). Apparently, BT can differentiate similar signals form different devices? I still wonder about speed, I'm no typist, but I can hit the same key twice faster than this keyboard can get that message accepted by the iMac. Of course, I have a spel checker so that's beter than slowing down my keyboarding. rolleyes.gif

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

If you've just returned from the Apple Store, having purchased your Magic Track, you might want to also visit <Apple's site> for an update to 10.6.4. Or it may now show up on Software Update. dntknw.gif

Until I get one, I'll make do with this:

And, no batteries required!!! thumbup.gif laughhard.gif

I'll be looking forward to some reviews/user comments on its capabilities. As much as I like the Mighty Mouse, it might be great to completely avoid any "mouse" with mechanical parts (like the current Apple Mouse). The added area could make things even more interesting and maybe even less fatiguing? We'll see. The pen capability is something I've never experienced and it may just be something else to lose on my real desktop (Sweety [the cat that lives with us] loves to discover new items and knock them to the floor for me! rofl.gif ). And it would require another stop from the keyboard to the device... Thinking.gif
