One of my Macs is telling lies ...
« on: June 16, 2003, 04:59:42 AM »
I decided last night that I might as well synchronise my two Macs to the exact same time.
I've just noticed that there is now, 10 hours later, a difference of 15 seconds.

If my calculations are right, that means a difference of 2 hrs 39 mins will accumulate over a year.

Thankfully, I instinctively use my wrist-watch if I want to know what the time is.

But I am now wondering which machine is telling the truth and why there is a difference?

Both machines have new batteries.

Nothing serious about this (I hope), just a curious observation.

Regards

Both might tell you lies, unless you have both to check against an atom clock on the Internet with a fairly short interval. Almost all clocks and watches is never going to tell time exaclty, unless they are atom driven (not sure I'd like to carry that around on my wrist). The advantage with computers and Internet is that you can have your computer to check its settings against one of those atom clocks around the world to get almost exact time all the time. I've set mine to check against Apple Europe (Network time in Date & Time in System Preferences).
