Anyone that updated the IE.
Did you have any problems with 'permissions' afterwards?
I did.
Well not a problem but one BIG surprise.!.
Like always I run permissions after any update/install etc.
Most of the time 'P' comes up with minor if any at all. Like 0 should be 1.

I updated IE on my s-jag partition and ran 'P'.
I have NEVER seen 'P' come up with so much stuff ... ever!!
All (or close) were IE.
I ended up copying what 'P' had and pasting onto textedit before letting 'P' do its thing. Appears a lot were duplicates but still!?!

Then fired up IE and gave it a spin. Seems ok. Didn't notice any change in reliability though.

Then after shutting down I ran all my utility test from a cd-r boot just to be on the safe side on all partitions/drives.
Just a few normal minor stuff. Nothing close to ... -Holy Cow! Martha! Look!- ... Ran fsck just for the heck of it also.

Again .. NEVER .. have I seen 'Permissions' come up with so much before.!.

OH Yeah. I ran 'P' just lastnight on that partition and it came up fine.

Repair permissions It is suggested that you repair disk permissions soon after installing Internet Explorer 5.2.3. Several readers note a dozen or more errors reported repaired by Disk Utility (located in Applications/Utilities in standard Mac OS X folder organization) after installing the new release.

I tried posting my [copy&paste] on a V (?) board.
The board software said no way bud! Shorten that puppy down a bunch! <gr>

I find it very hard to believe that no one else here upgraded IE.

I removed IE when Safari came out.  I installed 5.2.3 the day it came out and took care of the permissions first off.  No problems at all.  It seems to be very stable, more so than Safari or Camino.  I will wait and see what Safari's finall rendition is before I make up my mind. dry.gif

I did update IE and
like Bill......Repair Disk Permissions acted like it was on steroids, it spun by so fast.

At first I thought, what in the world's wrong. I guess it had a lot to do after putting in IE 5.2.3. Never had so many corrections.

I use Safari all of the time but intend to keep IE for now.   B)

I Download the version IE 5.2.3 but I haven't instaled yet. I don't know if I should or not,  after what I hear about the permissions.  unsure.gif

What is different about this version of IE? Is it better than the last in some way?

Appearance and function are the same. It has been very stable for me, no lockups or crashes as yet.

I'd post the copy I have but like I said another boards software couldn't handle the 192KB in text. smile.gif
Maybe invision could.

Appears like a lot of duplicates as I mentioned above.Yet why? When I ran permissions before and all was fine. Maybe I'm getting more cynical than I'm already but IS the IE updater trying to change something that permissions said was fine just before?
Either way permissions cleared it up in nothing flat ... for me that question mark still resides.

Still? The attention span of the-best-of-best would lose it if I posted what permissions came up with.. smile.gif

daffy, same thing here. Flew by so fast. Caught me off guard. Had to grab what was going on. biggrin.gif

Bill, when I upgraded my folks eMac from 10.2 to 10.2.4 I ran the permissions update and it must have worked on nearly every file in the machine. It took more than 10 minutes to run.
