Flash, In case you wondered:
« on: November 03, 2010, 02:17:40 PM »
I've been wondering about the "very" strange behavior around Firefox and Flash and apparently they're concerned enough to issue a patch to Flash tomorrow:

I don't know if this means I have a problem or not!   whistling.gif

Thanks for the heads up. I've upgraded Flash. For those who haven't:

Repair permissions after installing the Flash update. Flash updaters consistently do non-kosher things to permissions. Not only that:  Dropping Adobe Flash boosts Apple's MacBook Air battery life by 2 hours

Thanks for this.

Have updated Flash player (Adobe told me I was running 10.1.85.3) and thanks, Jon - quite a few permissions repaired afterwards! smile.gif

If you feel you'd rather live without Flash, a search turned up this page on where to find the uninstaller.
And this from Jon's link (my bold itals):
QUOTE
Apple sells far more iOS devices than Macs, and no iOS devices support runtimes for Flash content. That has had a major effect upon advertisers, publishers, website design, and online video broadcasters, who have collectively made monumental shifts away from Flash. This in turn has made Flash playback far less important on the desktop than it was just a year or two ago, although there is still important content tied to Flash.

Rather than uninstall, which prevents using some sites, simply use some kind of Flash blocker. I haven't had flash automatically run in well over two years. There are many apps/plugins/extensions/etc. to do that. And Flush makes it easy to erase the Flash cookies.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
