Mubarak stepping down
« on: February 11, 2011, 10:48:30 AM »
<by NPR STAFF AND WIRES> Apparently, the auto-reply from Mr. Mubarak, saying he was "out of the office" was not a mistake. wink.gif Let's continue to hope and pray that Egypt will become a nation led by it's people, for it's people.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

Yes, the past few weeks have been history in the making imho.

Egypt is very close to my heart.  I have friends there and would love to go back when I am better.  A lovely place.  The people are charming and I was very happy there.

I'd like to hope that Libya can be solved this easily; if Egypt is indeed solved!

I just hope Egypt is really "solved." I think it is way too soon to conclude that. I was also hoping to hear that Gaddafi had decided to take his baubles and leave by today. There have already been hundreds of lives lost there, it's nothing like Egypt's change. Egypt had a rather robust and diversified economy. Libya's only resources are oil and sifting sands. And much of the oil industry is maintained and run by foreigners.

I just hope the "fat lady" lives long enough to sing! Just because a dictator leaves doesn't mean democracy will take root, much less survive.

This is all very inspiring. To paraphrase Obama, who paraphrased MLK: There is something in the human spirit that yearns for freedom. And we get to see this in action!
