iMac Intel i3 21.5” OS 10.6.8,

2 questions about iSight.

1- I somehow managed to loose my iSight application. How can I recover it. I googled "iSight" and could
     not find any answer as to how to recover it or download it. Will I have to reinstall my System?

2- A friend has the same computer as mine. He asked me if he could use iSight to monitor if someone is
     using his computer. He claims he could do it with his previous PC. Not being savvy about the subject,
     does somebody know if this can be done with iSight?

Which application have you lost, jb? There is no "iSight" application as far as I can tell. There is iChat and there is Photobooth - both of which use the iSight camera.

If you need to reinstall iChat, you can do that with the install disk. Click on "Optional Installs" and then on the optional installs mpkg icon and follow the instructions. Click on the flippy triangle to see the list of Applications and select iChat when you get to the list of things you can install.

"iSight" is just another part of the Mac's hardware but you have to use some app to control it. Just like the DVD burner or even the mouse, they are always there (OK, you can unplug the mouse) but you must use an app (iTunes or Disk Utility for the burner, the OS for the mouse).

The only other "app" I can think of that uses the camera would be the Account section of System Prefs, there is a function that allows you to take a picture of yourself to include in your account. The easier method to use the camera would be the two apps Paddy mentioned. Just make sure you don't have a cat hanging over the lens...
