Help I'm being followed by Rick Perry on Google
« on: October 04, 2011, 02:05:52 PM »
Just got a new iMac and it is described in another post.
What i want to immediately address is a tab about Rick Perry that persists in Firefox. One of the first things i opened was a story about Perry's faltering campaign. That story appears as a tab whenever i open FF. Help me make it go away! It is scaring my wife, and me too!
Thanks,

Just close the tab before you quit FF. Lion now tries to open any file that was open in any app when you Quit the app. Not all apps work this way, yet. Or, like me, you'll soon learn to close all windows before quitting an app. rolleyes.gif It basically replicates the iOS method os keeping an app in the state you left it. That's fine in iOS, I guess, not much help on the Desktop when one can always load a document by double-clicking it or even use the app's "Recent" menu. rolleyes.gif

X-ing out the tab and then quitting was the first thing i tried. Perry is still campaigning on my time.

Go to the Firefox menu and click Preferences. Select Privacy and check the box to Clear History When Firefox Closes. Click the Settings button for more options.

EDIT: By any chance, did you set the unwanted page as your home page? You can check by going to Firefox>Preferences>General. That also has a popup menu that controls whatever appears when you start Firefox. Check that setting as well.

Good show! My home page is my local weather forecast, which (so far, at least) has not been politicized.  toothgrin.gif
