One small step for me, one giant leap...

...and she doesn't even know she's taken it! eek2.gif

I installed Lion on her MBP yesterday! She got an iPad for her birthday (couple of weeks ago) and we're probably getting the new iPhones for our anniversary (last week). I've been on her case about her multiple paper calendars and how difficult it is to keep them 'synced.' Since she got the iPad, setting up iCloud was a natural. Of course, it is easier to use with Lion than Snow Leopard and even more difficult with our 'old' iPhones. So, I took the bull by the horns. So far, I've been able to avoid getting gored! scram.gif

Most of my time was spent in updating PPC versions of her apps! Many were simply deleted (she hadn't played Flip Words in years!).

First thing I did was download and install Lion Tweaks. So many of the UI differences are hidden from her. Still, she noticed that her HD icon was not on the Desktop. She thought that was how one should "open one of those windows to see where everything is." Gave me a chance to "refresh" her memory about Finder... rolleyes.gif Of course, there are some differences in the side bar of Finder windows, other than color, and I failed to take a screen shot of the old one. wallbash.gif

After the upgrade, Mail updated things and decided there were 284 'flagged' messages. I have no idea how it determined that, my wife doesn't even know why she would want to 'flag' a message (that's an important lesson for later today, maybe). She misinterpreted the new disclosure arrows for threads as the 'unread' dot. But I think she likes the threading method. +1! smile.gif

I'm only hoping that other stuff will be as easily accommodating. We'll see. The Journey has begun.

A couple of things I have not updated; Windows Media Player and Real Player. Are those things still around? I can't remember the last time I even saw a file that needed them. dntknw.gif

Congrats on the leap of faith or...

Windows Media Player I don’t think has been updated in seven years. Real Player was updated last April, so not sure what its status is. But VLC and Perian have basically provided everything needed. Flip4Mac also allows Quick Time to play WM content.

Ignore the argumentative nature of this poster. He is old and can't engage in meaningful dialog very long.
Therefore, management asks that you at least humor him. Thanks.

Thanks for mentioning VLC. I didn't write that one down and forgot about it.
Now, if I could just find the list I did write down... laughhard.gif flail.gif
