Delating prefences in OX10.2 ?
« on: February 02, 2003, 04:10:00 AM »
How can i delate the prefences for my internet and network setup in my ibook 500mhz ,i keep gettting the message "an incorrect "PPP" option as been set" even when this as been checked and found to be correct, i am also now unable to turn on file sharing it just toggles on then goes off.
i have checked the network port configurations settings, the modem is the first in the list and is set up to use the correct internal modem.
any one have any ideas please.

Before you go deleting any files, you may try and create a new PPP connection in the Network Preferences.

Then, if this new connection setup works, delete the faulty setup.

Otherwise, you may try deleting these:

Users/user_name/Library/Preferences/internetconfig.plist
Users/user_name/Library/Preferences/internetconnect.plist
Users/user_name/Library/Preferences/internetpref.plist

Just a thought Steve, but make sure you are in the correct library prefs folder. The user path as suggested.

Thank Rick,
For the extra infomation about the file path, i was'nt using that path to delete the prefences ,am stll get confused with the way osx presents files and folders.
Anyway i delated the prefences via the file path suggested but i am still unable to connect via PPP ,i still get the message "an incorrect PPP option has been set", i really am at a loss apart from re-installing Osx10.2.
Thanks for giving it some thought anyway.

Try this: Network Preference Panel-->click on the pull-down menu "SHOW"-->choose Network Port Cofigurations--->uncheck ETHERNET and make sure PPP is in the TOP position.
