I know I should do this with both Macs.
Actually I have no naughty stuff at all, its the income tax stuff I do for friends and some banking and financial stuff, that should be protected.
 
I can add the user accounts for the kids too. Have one alrady for my little grandson, the one who got the birthday Mac.

Guess my question is, can I add a password to each Mac, so that when it is turned on, it has to be typed in. But when its only in sleep, then I dont have to put the password in.
Thats what I would do, if it can be done.

Both those questions are already answered by perusing the "Users & Groups" pref panel->Login Options, "Automatic login" and the "Security & Privacy" pref panel, General tab. These are not new functions, they have been available for tens of years (actually before OS X!) as well as the recommendations that everyone use them.

Preferences are important and amazing things to know about. Do you know where yours are?! wink.gif

Yup, but never have bothered to look at the Log in options. Never Logged Out?And never have looked at the security+privacy one till right now.Yes, I learn something every day.I will take a look at doing that, but I sure dont want to have to type in a password if I spend a moment in the kitchen or play ball with Lilly in the back yard.




Adobe situation SOLVED!I got on the phone with an Adobe rep this morning, and he led me thru the entire process of re-installing all my programs. It took a couple of hours, but everything is happy and working fine on my new Mac.He did emphasize NOT to ever de-authorize any program, dont do it that way any more. He said to CALL them when you are ready to set up a new computer, and they would guide me thru the process. Or show us links to where it can be done.Thank you all for putting up with me thru this Adobe dilemma!

One more thing, and then I go have a pre-dinner cocktail with my husband and start cooking dinner,,,,,,,,,thats relax time, and no more computer stuff tonight, Im tired of it, and Lilly is too.

Now I have both hard drives open on the new Mac, and am going thru all my 3rd party filters, brushes, gradients, styles, on and on. And my custom actions for PS. I cant do without Flaming Pear filters and my Topaz plug-ins and many many others.
Just dragging them from the other hard drive in PS or PSE to the new program on the new Mac's HD, they will copy fine, and make sure your PS or PSE is not running. Then when you open it, all your extra goodies will be in there. And they are, Im done for tonight.

There is a free application Caffeine that resides on the top menu bar. If you click it, the cup is filled (with coffee?) and the screen will not go into sleep or screen saver. I have used it often/daily, especially for video conferencing, etc. Sounds perfect for you in going to play ball with Lilly.

Ah, yes. The 'back yard.' A great place to play with a dog and the kids. Some folks will take advantage of your fun by coming in the front door. eek2.gif Oh, I know, you always keep the other doors locked or you can see people approaching the front even while in the back and it's a nice neighborhood and very little crime and... and... oops.gif We simply can't depend on everyone else for the security of our own stuff. There are actually people around who'll risk jail just to get it!

Nahh, who would come in the front door if we are all out in the back? Half the time the ball goes over the roof if the kids throw it anyway and Lilly goes around the house in circles after the kids with the ball.  

I like my own desktop pictures and my own screen savers.
Oh, just noticed something,,,,,where the heck is that lovely random display style for the screen saver?  I loved that option!

Mavericks, the newest I guess.
Its that mosaic thing that you click on in the Display Style, the furthest on the right.
THis is my old Mac screenshot, and it was on the one I gave to Max, but its missing on the new one?

If you have Mavericks, why not post a screen shot of its panel. It is, apparently much different from what you had (10.6?). You already know how to use the old panel. I thought you wanted to learn the new one. Take a look around on the new version of the panel and check out its controls. I'm sure you can figure it out. wink.gif You do see the "Random order" bit on my image, right? It's greyed out because I want the image I have all the time. "Random order" is not applicable, in my case.

As for the "mosaic" question, I think you're correct. I's the only and standard way in Mavericks. Minor change, IMHO.

No, its this,
the mosaic moving thing, its pretty cool, and its been on all the previous OS,
forgot to say, this is the screen shot from the new Mac and this wonderful option is GONE.

It appears that the Screen Saver Preference pane has indeed been gutted.  No 'mosaic'.  No ability to select from iPhoto library that I can see.  You can select a folder but there is no iPhoto library connection.  "Random" seems to get you a random selection of Apple images, not, as before, randomly chosen from a selected iPhoto album.

WTF.....

Mail rules don't work reliably.

Desktop icons meander around or disappear altogether.

Pages gutted.

Damn good thing Maver-yuuchhs was FREE. !!!!!!!!!!    It is definitely the most unpolished OSX I have ever seen - and I was in since OS4.......    getsick.gif

OK, both of you are looking at the Screen Saver part of the panel. I was talking, showing the Desktop image part. Howsome ever, did either of you scroll to the bottom of the list of images on the left-hand panel? Hint: what does the last slide have for a "title?" Mine starts with the letter "R". Thinking.gif

Also, even in your own shots, there is a "Shuffle slide order" checkbox. Wonder what that does? Possible add some randomness? whistling.gif

Finally, what are your choices in the Popup menu when you select a screen saver "style?" After all, the left-hand list is not to select the images but the way they are to be displayed. Once you select a style, the "Options" button will display the various sources for images. Those sources are exactly the same (as far as I can tell) the same as for the Desktop images and the sources includes one labeled "iPhoto." wallbash.gif

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it explore the options. er, sumthin like that... wink.gif

What OS level are you looking at?  Not Mavericks for certain!!!  There is no "Style" popup menu.......  that I can see....  The "Random" at the bottom of the left column (see my illustration which is from 10.9) gets you a random selection of screen saver types.....

Unless I am seriously missing something?????????    wallbash.gif
