iCloud Photo Stream
« on: August 28, 2014, 09:33:52 AM »
OK, getting ready for a little fishing expedition to Sitka Alaska. Experimenting  with my new mini's camera.  I would like to be able to "PhotoStream" the pics from the mini to my MBP.  huh.gif

I have PS enabled on both. The camera takes the pics just lovely.  Where do they show up in/on the MBP???? I do not want the whole iPhoto library in the cloud, just the new pics????? blink.gif

Try System Preferences->iCloud. There should be a list of what you can sync' with/through iCloud. One is named "Photos". Click the "Options" button and you'll likely want to check the "My Photo Stream" choice. Hope that's what you were wanting to know. wink.gif

I'm not sure you need "PS" (Photo Sharing?) enabled unless you want to actually Share with others, even non-Mac/iDevice users.

Well that is what I did on both the MBP and the mini. Do I assume that the test photo(s) were then fed to the MBP via iCloud???  If yes where are they located on the MBP.  Not in the MBP iCloud, not in "Pictures", not in iPhoto or anyplace else that I can find.

Where do dey go????  wallbash.gif

Details, details, details... rolleyes.gif

Pictures at Ten! wink.gif

I don't use iPhoto, but I understand there is a button/menu choice labeled something like "Turn on Photo Stream". Have you used that? There may be some prefs in iPhoto that need setting, also.

Found an interesting bit in this <Apple Support page>:
QUOTE
How long are My Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud?
The photos you upload to My Photo Stream are stored in iCloud for 30 days to give your devices plenty of time to connect and download them.
I never put two and two together about these photos not counting against the iCloud storage space. It's simply because they don't stay "stored" for very long.

The point is, you may not see images in iPhoto that were placed in iCloud from those other devices more than 30 days ago. iCloud is simply a temporary storage location to allow all the other devices to sync. The images are actually on/in the devices, not in iCloud.

GOT IT. clap.gif   There is a step in iPhoto  preferences that has to be "checked", then the photos from the mini end up in" iPhoto iCloud"

Too bad we don't have a teenager around the house that could have probably told me how to do it in about 3 seconds wallbash.gif.
