Yes, I read that too, thinking that its going to be more difficult for law enforcement to do their job.
Lots of bomb threats recently being called in to high schools and colleges, what if they all become untraceable?
And worse?

Phone call tracing has nothing to do with iOS or iPhones. That technology uses the phone company. As far as I know, Apple hasn't entered that business. wink.gif False reporting has probably even been done with smoke signals or drums in the jungle. eek2.gif

Guess what I meant was when they confiscate a phone during a crime, cannot the perp erase or disable the phone right then and there? As there would be probably a lot of incriminating info on the phone? Texts, emails, address book stuff, recent calls?

You can erase/disable your iPhone, any time you want, even from your computer. Erasing has always been available, you could even Restore it to delete just the incriminating evidence if you do your backups with that in mind. Frankly, most hoodlums are not that intelligent, IMHO. Disabling has been around since (and maybe before iOS 7).
