There was an interesting article about MacWorld in the Boston Globe the other day - how attendance and exhibitor numbers were down, no Jobs keynote etc. The reporter noted that exhibitor attendance at trade shows was generally down - between the economy and the fact that many of them find that they can communicate via the internet far more profitably.

The real bummer is that MacWorld is moving back to Boston next year, and Apple's in a huff about that, and may not participate. It's to be the first big trade show in the new convention center. They're still negotiating apparently, though Apple wouldn't comment for the article beyond their February statement that they wouldn't be there.

for Apple.

Additionally Ted Landau has a three part article on
MacFixit pointing out that New York is becoming an
unaffordable venue - exhorbitant rental fees and
usarious charges by various unions. For example, paying
$45 to have a union member plug in an electrical
connection - the cords are all there, but you must pay
to have a union member make the simple connection we all
do every day in our homes/offices.

Read it, then relect on why any exhibitor would choose
to throw their money away like this.
