I like it, but I have gone to Opera. NS7 is just too darn big. It is a RAM hog.

David, #1155, are you a model train buff? I'm building a G scale garden railroad.

Netscape 7.0 just takes a little getting used to. I've been using it since it came out and......... you know me, I don't jump into many x.0 applications.

Once I used to it, Netscape 4x and IE were in the dust. There still are a few sites that are made for IE soI keep it around and I keep Netscape 4x on here also because the new versions of Netscape pick up everything like-helper apps, bookmarks, address books etc. from it.

Steve_J, no I am not a model collector, I collect bottles and plates, antiques of trains, but gave up on the HO's when I became a grandfather, that was about 22 years ago cause now I'm a old fart (great-grandfather)!

BTW, I use Eudora for my e-mail, Netscape did not handle multiple e-mail accounts in the old days... and I do not know if it does now but I'm use to Eudora!      ;~)'

I'm now a confirmed NS7 fan.
Since the time Sunset showed me how to manipulate Netscape thru Mozilla docs, I've resolved import/export problems and thats been great. I like almost everything about NS7 except;

Some sites are just not friendly to NS, others are downright hostile.

Wife likes (loves, craves, is in fact addicted to) a site called Pogo. Seems they have a bingo game there. (if the choice is bingo or Judge Judy; take bingo it's been shown to cause somewhat less brain damage).

She can only access this site thru M$. Can't make it work in NS. Don't know why.

Since 'Pogo" can only be accessed thru M$, I would gleefully erase M$ Internet Explorer from my disk with the result I would get my wife back and at the same time  away from this insidious menace; but I do need that browser for work purposes.

What to do, What to do?

After years of using NS (mostly happily - up though 4.7.9) and then going with IE 5.2.x when I started getting enthusiastic about X-->Jaguar, now you tell me all the agonies I've suffered with MAIL can be forgotten, 'cause trusty olde NS is back . . . and AOL hasn't ruined it . . . particularly Messenger?

What a blessing that would be.

(If RogerF can do it, I should be able to      )

Is WDL the only one who got the CD (+ Manual)? I sense he thinks that was a very good idea.

Is NS 7.x exclusively for OSX?

Dick, Netscape 7.0 is available in both Classic (OS 9.1 and higher) and OS X versions. See http://channels.netscapE.com/ns/browsers/d...download.jsp?vt

I have used it for rendering Web pages, to see if it effects viewing v Netscape 4.7. It has some interesting features, but to large to be used on my Powerbook.  I find that some sites restrict you to MS IE, and I don’t really care for that. Browsing should be universal, as a matter of fact the rule book at W3C says it somewhere?

Bill, what was it about 7's e-mail abilities that you didn't like? I use Communicator 4.? for e-mail and web browsing. I'm wondering about upgrading it. My e-mail needs are pretty simple: send, receive, and save. I assume the upgrade would preserve my address book and bookmarks. I use another program to filter spam, so I might have to point that to the new app.

I use N7 for stuff that my N4 won't handle, but use N4 for my mail. N7 kills the pop up ads.  There are goodies and baddies about both, so just use the one you want for the reason you want.  And if I find something that N4 or 7 doesn't like, use IE.
Found that N7 won't show my scrolling cursor on my page, and a friend told me that it was that N7 was an AOl product, and that's why that part is missing.
Just use the browser you want for what you want to see.

I've been using Apple's new Safari, I love the spell check feature, and it does seem faster, I'm using it now!
Now if Apple is reading this, how about tabbed windows,     until that happens, most of the browser work is Netscape 7.01 for me!

Gregg,
it's been so long I can't really recall but I suspect it had to many bells & whistles for my small (email) use. Probably didn't need all the tented windows just for checking/retrieving mail and web design when NS 4xx does the same.

Thanks Jennie, thou I went into the prefences you mentioned and turned off the search engine pref., but still when I enter a site that I haven't been before it goes back to the Google search engine.

I agree with David, get some tabbed browsing features and Safari may take over once it gets out of the beta stage.
