Several TSers have been frustrated by Apple's decision to stop developing iPhoto. Adobe Lightroom has been suggested as a much more capable replacement for it (and for Photos, also). I came across some links showing how one expert uses LR and thought they might be interesting to those wondering how and what it can do, as well as how it integrates with other apps. In these vids, the other apps are Photoshop (Adobe) and Perfect Photo Suite (on1). There are several hours worth of vids at Adobe, but those are not for casual viewing! Instead, try one or more of the following and see what controls are available and how they can be used... even if you don't want or need integration with any other software.
These are separate links, but they and many others are all in a blog which you might find more helpful than my simple list. The format is similar in each vid; work flow starts with LR, then the image is opened in Perfect Photo Suite. You can end the vid at that point, as there is usually not much more done in LR.
In fairness, I must reveal that I now own the Perfect Photo Suite. I did not purchase it, however. I had a paid subscription to Photoshop Elements Techniques magazine, print edition. My subscription was through May 2017. They announced several months ago that they would soon cease publishing the print version (a digital version has been available all along). Today I received an email announcing two 'gifts'. First, my subscription to PET has been extended to 6/30/20
19 (25 months!). Second, I was supplied with a link to download version 9.5 of Perfect Photo Suite and a serial number to make it active! The retail price is $149.95!
Obviously, I had paid for the PET subscription (2 year renewal, 12 print magazines for $98, December, 2014). I got only two printed magazines, and digital ones are certainly much cheaper to produce! In effect, I paid $98 for two printed magazines, the software suite, and another 12 digital editions of PET. All in all, I'm still happy!
I'm not sure what Macworld provided subscribers when they ceased publishing their magazine... I wish I'd done as well on some land I once bought...
