Boot Camp
« on: September 23, 2015, 06:29:14 PM »
I know this is a curse word for Mac's but I'd rather have a Mac running Microsoft then get a IBM! Question is can a new Mac Mini run their 10 or am I stuck with 7? The new Mini will be a
2.8GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
16GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
1TB Fusion Drive
I need to run Microsoft for my new security system, and as always, thank you!!!! wallbash.gif
So many Mac’s, so little time!

Even though you gave us a great list of hardware specs, I still can't tell if it will run Windows 10. This os mainly because Apple feels we shouldn't need to know these kinds of specifications. Instead, they want us to know when the hardware was first offered for purchase. wallbash.gif Here's a link to <Apple's list of hardware that will support Windows 10 with Boot Camp>. You'll have to check the Fusion and/or Parallel site to see if you can run those virtual machines. dntknw.gif

I'm not sure why you want to waste a Mac to run the whole M$ OS: I assume you have many non-Mac apps. dntknw.gif You can, however, run Word, Excel, that presenter thing, etc. through the cloud/subscription:

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

This will replace my B&W G3, which still runs, I won't have a IBM in this house, but I need to run Microcrap!

I have Office on my MacPro, I think Word is a great program and that's all I use out of Office, I need to rum 7 or better for my security system (cameras and so on) I wish it would run on Mac but it won't! Where I live has had a ration of break in's in my area, although I have my 5 acres fenced, my wife is worried when I'm away, I showed her how to use her 38 but she said she might get scared and mess up and shoot the wrong thing! Boot Camp is probably the best way to go. Sounds like you don't do a lot of swapping documents back and forth between the Mac OS and Windows. I think I've read that the virtual machine apps (Parallels, for example) sometimes have problems with that.

I run a web cam and went through three different cameras before finding one that would work with my mini. However, the video format was also a factor in returning one of those. Since you are already using some cameras, they will continue to operate. We live in a very secure area with no-nonsense judges! Most crooks seem to get the 'word' and avoid this town, at least after their first 'visit'! wink.gif My camera is only for <my weather site>, but it also converts to a night vision (infrared) mode after the Sun goes down. I have set the weather software to stop creating the video after Sunset, otherwise there's not much action except for bugs and the occasional raccoon! laughhard.gif
