Microsoft Asserts Clients’ Rights in FBI E-Mail Searches Fight
by BLOOMBERG ON MONDAY, JANUARY 23 2017

For once, I hope MS wins. There is now a concerted attack on US Internet privacy; the newly appointed head of the FCC supports strangling "Net Neutrality".

Yes, I know that TS has a policy against discussing politics, but for those interested in another forum that has no such restrictions (and it's a Mac forum), peruse this FTM thread.

At least some good news; the Appeal Court decided (4-4) to not take the Governments request to overturn the lower courts support of MS. Not being a lawyer, I think that means the Government would have to try to get the next higher Court to look at the case. That might even be the Supreme Court. At any rate, the threat is stopped, at least temporarily.

BTW, this event has nothing to do with the recent elections. The suit was brought by the previous Administration. Therefore, while concerning legalities, I don't think it brings Politics into the forum. If others disagree, I can always bring suit... whistling.gif laughhard.gif

Theatrics is not policy.
If there are any sitting politicians who want to remain in their seats, they will stop this clown, before the public replaces them with someone who will.
No Worries. ;-)

Regardless of who is elected, I am forever thankful for the unusual wisdom and FireWire of our governments Founding Fathers for creating a system with powerful and effective checks and balances. I don't think that exact form had ever been tried before. cheer.gif So far it has prevented the conflicts we've seen many times around the world since it's inception. It is why we absolutely must exercise our right to vote.

I'm guessing the check of no politics is going to rear it's ugly head!  At least, unless I don't choose to say anything at all at this point.  I already say too much on Facebook
as one TS member might have noticed!  Have a good day!

The 'no Politics' unwritten rule is just common public courtesy, as far as I'm concerned. The topic title is fairly non-political in as much as no political party was mentioned, it is a technical topic of concern to all devices where our personal info is collected no matter how we vote nor whether we even have a choice about its collection.

Of course, our highly paid Administrators are probably monitoring the thread and will take whatever action the majority decide is required. :; It's our version of "Speak softly but carry a big stick"! laughhard.gif
