Choosing a Printer
« on: July 27, 2003, 02:44:11 PM »
I would like to know how to choose my printer in OS X 10.1.5. I can open up Print Center but there is not any printers listed to chose a default printer from. I have had it installed before, but I don't know how I did it. I hit the delete key accidently as my printer was highlighted to close the Print Center but deleted my printer. I also need to know how to check the ink levels once I get my printer reinstalled. My printer is an Epson Stylus Photo 820. wallbash.gif

The earlier information should still apply. smile.gif

You want the Epson Printer Utility.

Where mine came from I'm not sure. Installed with Driver?

Thank you! thanx.gif
After checking on one of the links that you provided, I turned on the printer and checked at the Print Center and my printer was there.

Now, if you could answer another quertion, how do you check the ink levels in OS X?

MacDoug,

This is how I think checking ink levels is done on your machine-
1. Do a search/find on Epson Printer Utility.
2. Double click that.
3. A printer list will now appear.
4. Select and double click (the name of) your printer
5. A new window will appear with several options. The top-most indicates ink level. Click that.

Note: With Epson printers this is a calculated level (rather than a measured level) based on the number of pages printed since the ink cartridges were replaced.
