Hey, talking about what browser or what extras needed to view a page. --
Who can see this, and what do you see, and how did you get it?

This is a pop up do you get a picture?

Using some version of IE on a Dell with some version of Windows.
Clueless on identification of same.

Morning weldiger,

At first click, it looked like a carpet; I just used my scroll slide.

You have to scroll down almost a half page. The ad is
"Win a Cooper" and asks you to enter info in certain fields to enter.

They do have a picture of the car.

As for my browser, I am using IE 5.1, on my Power PC
4400/200.

Hi Weldiger,

You don't say what you see, but I see a mess..

Using Mozilla 1.5a on Linux, I saw a quick flash of a car picture, then the whole window looks like an animated mass of static.

I looked at the source code and found where there is actually a ".gif" file named static.gif that is set to be the background for a table cell. This cell is defined with the attributes for size in percentages, but the code is not valid. This would appear to be why that static.gif covers the window instead of staying inside its own little cell as it should. I typed in the URL straight to the static.gif and found it to be a small square image of static.

I found the image for the car and put it into a separate URL and saw a really cute Cooper..

Let us know what it is you see. That page is useless to me since I can't see past the static image once it loads. If I was visiting a page that provided this pop-up, I wouldn't see it then either since I'm telling Mozilla to block all pop-ups..

With Safari 1.0 and an iMac G4, I get a textured black-and-white display that looks like carpet, and at the very bottom, half of 2 wheels of the car.

As noted by Lindsay and Diana, Safari's pop-up blocker precludes seeing the Mini Cooper, but with IE 5.2.3, there it is!

Hi Harv,

I can see the window through the link the Weldiger provided because it is a direct link...not a pop-up in the strictest sense. I mentioned that I wouldn't be able to see it if I visited the page that provided it as a pop-up because of Mozilla's abilities only because Weldiger mentioned that it was a pop-up.

Being a pop-up has nothing to do with it's viewability as an HTML document. The HTML in that document is faulty and I believe that Mozilla and other browsers mentioned are unforgiving of the errors...hence the strangeness. If you see that strange "carpet" or "static" with Safari as I do with Mozilla, it isn't because of any pop-up blocking Safari is doing for you. Safari is recognizing a mistake in the HTML and refusing to render the page in some way other than it was encoded. I say Hooray for Safari..

IE is, should we say, "forgiving" or "lax" or downright faulty in its rendering of that document's HTML. Granted all browsers have their idosyncrisies about what they will render, but I have always disliked IE's propensity to allow mistakes in coding.

I thought you were saying you couldn't see that link because it was a pop-up and therefore blocked by Safari.

Diana, Now I am really embarrassed. You properly interpreted my original comment. I truly did think the issue related to Safari’s pop-up blocking.

My subsequent comment (where I said that I knew/understood what you said...) was meant to be a bit of irony, because in truth, I was totally clueless. Oh my shame…

BTW, I will continue working on a way to BIOB!

This is quite interesting. I have 4 browsers opened.....Safari and IE 5.2 on the iBook. With Safari I see the grayish carpet looking "whatever" about 3/4's of the way down and the wheels. With IE 5.2 there is a flash of the gray, a "toot" "toot" and then the whole picture of the car.

On the p.c. I have the MSN8 browser opened and IE 6.0.2 and I don't even see the text link at all in either of them. I have one more browser to open on the iBook (that is MSN8 for Macs)...trish
