The privacy issue affects some two billion users of devices that run Google’s Android operating software and hundreds of millions of worldwide iPhone users who rely on Google for maps or search.
“There are a number of different ways that Google may use location to improve people’s experience, including: Location History, Web and App Activity, and through device-level Location Services,” a Google spokesperson said. Did you know that? I didn't, but I haven't looked since I don't use Google search or other Google apps. I hope everyone else is more knowledgeable.
OTOH, you may never actually see any text about this as it normally only is displayed when you re-activate Web & App Activity.
Google offers additional information in a popup that appears if you re-activate the “Web & App Activity” setting — an uncommon action for many users, since this setting is on by default (emphasis added).
As has been said many, many times,
Google is
not a product,
you are
Googles product.
