What is “FB”?!
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

One of my ongoing annoyances with FB is that it kept switching to "Top Stories" (as selected by IT, not by me!) and I just wanted "Most Recent" - Social Fixer makes that stick. For that alone, it's worth it. It has lots of other features though. :)
Oh, I haven't caught that pref, I'll go look. I did set it to block ALL political stuff. HURRAY!

Stop it.
"I'm sorry, Dave, but I can't do that." :scram:

Speaking of "stopping": I was just saving copies of my Safari extensions and saw that DuckDuckGo needed updating. Did that and then noticed a new icon on Safari 11... The 'duck' had been replaced by a "!" on a warning triangle shape. Hovering over it indicated it was from DuckDuckGo. Clicking on it displayed their explanation:
Quote
Safari 12 Update
The Safari version of the DuckDuckGo browser extension no longer includes a tracker blocker. This is because upon upgrading to Safari 12, any extension that uses the canLoad API (which is the API required to block trackers) will be automatically disabled. Rather than allow our extension to be automatically disabled for everyone, which would also revert everyone's search engine, we've chosen to remove this API from our Safari extension, and with it, our tracker blocker. This removal prevents the extension from being automatically disabled so everyone can continue using the extension in Safari to access DuckDuckGo Private Search.

Safari is moving to a new model for browser extensions that offers users greater security and performance. We hope to eventually be able to offer the full DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials extension to Safari users within this new model.

In the meantime, we offer extensions for Firefox, Chrome and Vivaldi, which still provide the full suite of privacy features.
Nice that they knew about Apple's not-so-subtle methods and offered a warning for those who have not 'updated' to version 12 yet. :wallbash:

I assume you have seen this, also:

...Due to changes in the way Safari handles extensions, the old version of Adblock Plus for Safari will no longer work.

The good news is the all-new Adblock Plus for Safari app allows you to continue blocking annoying ads while using Safari...
Note: This version is missing some features from the old extension. These features will be added with future updates.[emphasis added]

I believe another change by Apple is that extensions not only have to be signed by registered devs, but they must also be "reviewed" by Apple.
Quote from: TidBITS
It now automatically turns off Safari extensions that hurt browsing performance and discontinues support for extensions that have been signed only by developers (and not reviewed by Apple) and most NPAPI plug-ins

Installed. Not noticing any real changes except in some Prefs:
  • Security->Web content: There is no longer a checkbox for Block pop-ups. I suppose that's now a built-in function.
  • General->Favorites shows: "Favorites" option now has a star outline icon.
  • Extensions lists now shows 'warning' icon beside extensions that may slow down the browser
The install did remove two older extensions that I can't remember using for months: Ultimate Status Bar and BetterSource. It also disabled a DuckDuckGo extension but the devs had alerted us about changes coming with Safari 12. I simply re-enabled the extension. BTW, it is now titled "DuckDuckGo Private Search 2018.9.5". :)

The other extension disabled was uBlock o. I chose to actually uninstall it as it was difficult to determine it's true dev.

I added a new 'blocking' extension from the Extension Library: Ka-Block! I have since disabled it after some apprehension about reading of possible data collection behaviors.

Here's another change: Go to Safari > Preferences > Tabs. There is an option to show website icons in tabs. I find it useful.

I did notice that, but I wasn't sure it was knu. I only saw it because I had my glasses on! :coolio: :blush-anim-cl:

I can't imagine those tiny icons being too useful when the site (and event the page title) are in plain site/text. Having started with an Apple ][, I'm accustomed to text. I never even liked the Icon view in Finder, either. Anyway, glad to have choices, especially those that are helpful!

Look under: Safari > Preferences > Websites and you'll see an option on the left for popup windows. I haven't yet played with it, but I’m going to try adding some sites.

This is clever and fun.

Thanks!

I already had three domains listed. None of which ever use pop-ups.  Perhaps I had added them in the old Prefs location with the "Manage" button. :dntknw:

You're welcome. I already had two domains listed, and like you was puzzled because neither used pop-ups.

I did discover that if you're on a site that requires pop-ups, you simply launch Safari > Preferences > Websites and the site should be listed allowing you to make your choice.

I'm not sure what block and notify is, as so far sites that require pop-ups never brought up an alert of any kind.

That may be what Safari will do. We all need all the Notifications we can get! Didn't you know they are worth .02 a mile for travel on any supersonic airliner?! Be sure to use them, they don't roll-over at the end of a week...
