« on: October 01, 2018, 08:22:53 AM »
This thing appeared on the desktop of my husband's new iMac. It would not not move nor could I get rid of it.
So I did a re-start, its gone.

What anti-virus software are you using?
Ever had any email dealings with the State of Massachusetts?
Do you have and use SpamSieve?

The massmail.state.ma.us is the only one that looks real and it is not listed on any blacklist I could check. There are lots of MA government agencies that use that domain.

The other three all look like spoofed addresses (computer generated) unless some idiot would actually chose one of them.

Apparently Siri "observes" lots of our activities, I don't use "it" al all on the Mac and other iDevices:

Using information stored on your device, such as your Safari browsing history, emails, messages, and contacts, as well as information contributed by other installed apps, Siri can provide suggestions in Spotlight, Look Up, Photos Memories, and more./quote]It also syncs across all Apple devices, disabling it claims to delete all data it may have stored, so be careful should you decide to turn it off on any device.

Yes, for state of MA, we are renewing the federal drivers license things. And I tried their website and it didn't work, so got this for an answer, they apologized. We have to drive to do this in person, either to Martha's Vineyard, or off Cape Cod.

But the other one was spam. I did hear a tiny beep about the time it appeared on his screen, but I thought it was our microwave, so I ignored it till he brought it to my attention. I got rid of it, and that stopped the tiny beeps too.

Guess it was the OS telling us that this was spam and get rid of it, which I did. Was a warning that this had been stopped.
He doesnt use Siri much.

Thank you, always something new and interesting. By the way, I did buy the nice MacBook with the touch bar for my grandson, he loves it.

TS folks have suggested both types of apps many times. But there seem to still be some who refuse to drink when led to the trough.
