I sometimes wish to dump FB also, but some people use it as their only way to communicate, so for them, I have to use it.
And on the positive side, I have placed dogs with new families, and we have rescued dogs who have gotten loose or run away within hours, and have connected up with local people who are amazing photographers. And dug into the history of some of our towns, and posted very old and wonderful pictures.
On the negative side, there is so much crap on FB, and hitting home, there is a private island and beach near my brother's house and its about the only place we can take our dogs to swim in summer unleashed. Thanks to FB, now people who do not live here have discovered it and come with many dogs, some are aggressive, and the people neglect to pick up the poop. And they park on the private road, and leave food and drink containers, and broken glass on the beach area.
So thats my take on FB, its one of those 'sort of necessary' things that probably wont go away.
