Saw last night that the light on my scanner was OFF. That is the normal indication
after my Mac has shutdown. Normally, the light (power) is always ON if the Mac is ON, when the Mac shuts down, it also kills the outlet on the APC UPS for the scanner. Difference last night was that it was
well before the scheduled shutdown time. "I'll work on this tomorrow. (well past) Time for my beauty rest!
Sure enough, the light was still OFF this morning after the Mac had restarted.

- Checked Epson for updates of any software... found one dated 8/19

- Disconnected scanner to read serial number in small letters... yep, out of warranty
- Returned scanner to desktop... again... reconnected cables
Uhmnnn... what is this?! A "| O" labeled rocker switch! Appears to be in the "O" position...
Every trouble-shooting general guide:
Step
one: Is the device ON?
The scanner is on the extreme right-hand edge of my desk. The desk is very close to the left-hand edge of my wife's desk. It's a fairly tight squeeze to get behind either desk by gingerly moving between the desks. Obviously, someone was slightly too wide and brushed the switch into the OFF position...
I have a suspect in mind, but I won't reveal his name.
