I've heard lots of good things about Panther. smile.gif

If I have some spare cash I'll install it on a Partition when it's out.

No hurry though. smile.gif

UK magazine MacFormat has taken a good long look at it and found it very pleasing.  May be the time for me to seriously look at upgrading from OS9.1. Perhaps Santa will be good to me at Christmas biggrin.gif

Some claim it is a whole lot faster in every aspect.
I'm confused about that.

OK. You have a newly designed OS [or is it an improved .. plus?].
They add all sorts of goodies on top of that.

How can it be much faster when they're rebuilding the foundation again?

By the all the pics that folks have posted and comments, it appears to be more on the improvement road than a brand new fresh shinny apple.

I know it will bring back the ability to color label folders and docs which I really miss.

I think there's a hack or program that will let you do it in OS10 but I don't know what it's called and how safe it is.

The/a program that allows colored folders and files is Labels X. http://www.unsanity.com/haxies/labels/

I have been using it for months on my DP 800 10.2.6 with no problems. And like most of the other haxies produced by Unsanity, it is especially well done and does all it advertises.

But when I saw that Panther will again have colored labels, I emailed them and asked about possible conflicts. Their reply, while not specifically addressing conflicts, did say that Labels X should no longer be required. Do ya 'spose I'll get my $10.00 refunded? unsure.gif

And, customized colors are also possible. I hope that too is available in Panther.

Are you ready for this? Scheduled start ups and shut downs are (once again)  in the Ennery Saver system preference in Panther. Very similar to the way this was done in Classic.

Save your zorkmids!

Been playing around with the color changing ... going color blind! <gr>

Yep. Panther is starting to get some pretty high marks. smile.gif

With my 10.2.6. running so smoothly, not sure if I want to rock-the-boat though.
DO have extra drives with spare Jag partitions and know how to swim. biggrin.gif
