Help - Bluetooth devices not 'seen' by MacMini
« on: June 02, 2020, 04:07:43 AM »
Keyboard and mouse are no problem but the Canon printer and a Logitech BT adapter linked to an old stereo unit are not found, so I can't connect. They had been connected but the Mini had to go for repair (new logic board) and now they don't.
And the Mini's speakers can't really do justice to a bit of The Boss or Status Quo   :tears:

Devices list shows only the 2010 MBP sitting nearby, and the MBP returns the compliment. But that's really no help...

While there must be some way of making the two devices 'visible' again, I haven't managed to find it yet!

Do you need the adaptor to connect the printer? Perhaps it (the adaptor and/or the printer)  needs a new driver or software update.

This site is a bit dated, but it comes with all the correct English spelling!

It may be as simple as re-connecting the printer and adaptor after a restart, but you've likely already done that. My next guess is that you need to re-create or force the BT .plist to see those devices. The linked site talks about doing that.

The next link (How-to-Geek) is more current and offers some extra details on normally hidden options.

Thanks Jim - the Logitech adapter (should!) connect to a little old mains-powered Sony stereo unit using RCA connector (red and white plugs).

The printer has been moved and is at present connected by a good old USB cable.

Given up (temporarily) on the audio link but the printer is OK now.

Time to shuffle the feet with my best 'embarrassed' facial expression.... the printer does not have Bluetooth. Just USB and wifi. So its problem was almost certainly user error.

Remind me of a maintenance log I read before flying one day:
Pilot entered write-up: "Autopilot not flaring before touchdown"
Maintenance sign-off entry: "Aircraft not equipped with autopilot"
