Have mixed feelings about motorbikes.... we live close to a main road with a 50mph limit but you wouldn't know it. Riders of Japanese sewing machines are probably doing close to double that in second as they leave the traffic lights and you can still hear them when they're a mile away. Occasionally the cops put a mobile camera out to catch a few of them, but not nearly often enough.
There's one Harley comes past regularly and it's a treat to hear that lovely V-twin burble.
In my dim and distant youth I rode an Ariel 350 single-cylinder. On a good day, with a following wind, you could get it up to 90 outside town (that was before we had a nationwide 70mph limit and it WAS legal). My first machine was a BSA 250 sidevalve with a rigid frame (no rear suspension - OUCH).
Triumph
motorcycles are a local industry, being built three miles up the road at Hinckley. And we also have
Mallory Park a couple of miles further on.
I still enjoy watching the MotoGP on TV - how DO they stay on the track at those angles?
