SCSI Peripherals

I have an AGFA Snapscan 1236, and a Minolta QuikScan 35, both are

SCSI units.

My new Emac has only USB ports, purchased Belkin SCSI/USB adapter, which I

find now is not compatable with these units.    

Is there anyway that I can get these to work on my new Emac 700/40GB.

     Please don't tell me to buy replacements!

Sorry! Same thing happened to me when I bought my iBook. The USB-to-SCSI adapter worked on an external drive, but not on my scanner. Have written my letter to Santa Claus for a new scanner.

I have SCSI film & Flatbed scanners (Nikon CoolscanIII & Umax Astra 1220S).

I tried several adapters, but the one that finally worked was an Adaptec USBXchange. Still, I have to use these scanners in Classic mode, not OS X, but they work.

Tom for your great info. Before I buy another adapter. the Belkin Co has offered to exchange the one I have for another one that is made for the Mac.

 They suggest that I use only one peripheral at a time on the adapter which means constantly changing cables to the device I want to use at that time.

I did check with the Adaptec people anyway; they also reccommend the same one device at a time with their unit.                                          

So, I will wait to see what the Belkin Co comes up with that will help be
helpful.

This is actually an important thing to consider when buying a Mac. With a tower you could have easily placed a SCSI card in it and had support for everything. the all-in-one usits don't offer that compatibility.

I've used a Belkin USB-SCSI adapter, it supported everythign but was terribly slow. So slow I'd never reccommend it to anyone. If you ahve Firewire ont heeMac, I'd opt for a firewire-SCSi adapter instead.

  I received the correct adapter from Belkin but I called their Sales Dept. and spoke with a very informed gentleman. He checked their catalogue and offered to exchange this adapter unit for a FireWire/SCSI adapter. He said that I would be much happier because this would improve the operation of whatever SCSI unit was connected. BUT, still only one peripheral at a time.
So thanks for suggesting it!
