Ran across this lastnight, day before, sometime other than today. <gr>

Apple/Intel

Get the feeling this journalist was standing in line behind me when they handed out spelling/grammar pills. <gr>

very interesting stuff to read, but what I see happening is Apple software dominating the market place with the Mac OS X that will work on both the Mac and PC platforms and have the great stability unlike Windows.

However, what B. Gates took it from Apple a long time ago, and Apple is now on the comeback, not only with newer and better software, but now with differant hardware, motherboards as well as processors G5 (intel).

I kinda think we are all going to be in for a shock in about a year or two when it comes to Mac OS X and computers alltogether.

The last time I had seen B. Gates on an interveiw regarding his company and whatnot, there was no mention at all about Windows software.  All Gates discussed was the gaming industry and where he was going with that.

I am looking forward to having Mac OS X designed for my new Sony Vaio P4.

I can see PC users buying Apple's OS once they get a taste of it on a PC, but then Apple should as well sell hardware parts to the public.

I do feel that a part of Apple will be on every computer, in every home, when it comes to software or hardware...

Apple is here to stay! thumbup.gif

am I an Apple nut or what? Devilish2.gif

Do a search and you'll find the Mac-on-INTEL debate has been going on for a very long time. (DealMac and MacFixit forums)

The article Bill lists is just a rumor. Just like G5 laptops and "Cubes" (boy, I really would like a cube though!)

From the stuff I've read it boils down to;

1 - The INTEL chips are a different hardware architecture which would require a complete re-write of apps. (developers wouldn't).

2 - Apple makes it's money selling hardware. (IF a Mac-on-INTEL would be created, it would NEVER run on anything BUT a Mac.)

Of course, there's plenty of dispute about this, but I think the monetary, resource and marketing investement with IBM pretty much shuts out INTEL, who probably isn't very interesested.
