PB G3 Wallstreet & WLAN (Airport)?
« on: September 09, 2003, 09:08:03 AM »
Recently, I started to think that having wireless LAN with my PowerBook G3 Wallstreet would be nice.
I know that it is not compatible with Apple's AirPort system, but I think I read somewhere (rather long ago) that third-party PC-Slot cards offered WLAN (with AirPort standard) for the Wallstreet series.

If that's the case, can anyboby recommend a card?

Thanks! smile.gif

My experience: I have been using a Farallon (now Orinoco) PC slot card about 2.5 years with zero problems. Works great. Clearly quite happy with it. But, I am running 9.2.2 on my Lombard and I don't believe Orinoco makes a card that runs OS X. So if you want OS X and 802.11g capability, other sources will probably be best.

Been thinking of doing the same thing with my Wallstreet.

Thanks for your answers.

It's rather difficult to find a reseller for these ORiNOCO cards. I found one and sent them an email.

I am also considering selling my Wallstreet and picking up a Pismo at eBay. That would slove the AirPort problem and I'd have a faster PB.

But I haven't decided yet. smile.gif
