OT:"Adventures in Chemo Maintenance"
« on: September 15, 2003, 01:13:52 PM »
Hello All,

It has been a long time since I have been able to post a topic.

I have been taken off the Chemotherapy pill Tamoxifen because I was having severe short term memory loss and was unable to function very well in my daily life.

All the "simple" things which I used to do suddenly baffled me and left me feeling frustrated and upset. It has not been the most fun month of my life.  Being taken off the Tamoxifen is like getting a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card. I can now feel the effects already and it is a real pleasure.

Thank you again for all the prayers and good wishes that you send my way. I really appreciate the support of my TS family.

Hi Mrs Lop,
same ailment four years ago except I chose surgery, when I see your track record I consider myself extremely fortunate that I did.
I am in remission now(my consultant tells me), I don't know if I would have had your strength or courage to fight as hard as you.
I do think of you quite often.
My very best wishes to you and your family
George.

clap.gif George,

I am so happy for you! Thank God that you are in remission.

I had the surgery for the removal of the tumor. The Pathologist report concluded that it was malignant. I then had to begin Chemotherapy intravenously at the hospital. When that was completed, I had Radiation Treatment. This Chemotherapy Maintenance is a pill form that I was supposed to take for five years.

Unfortunately, the Tamoxifen which is the most popular form of treatment for my Cancer, impaired my functioning.

I am not brave or courageous. When you consider the alternative, what else could I do? Give up, roll over and play dead? I chose to fight for my life because I believe that all life is valueable and precious. I can be entirely too stubborn in fighting for my beliefs, but that is what I am prepared to do. I have been very blessed with a really great support system in the form of my husband and children, church family and all the TS "family" members who have encouraged me and prayed for me

May God bless you and keep you healthy.

MrsLop

Hello Mrs. Lop,

It's good to see you posting again and not because you have a problem with your Mac.

We think of you daily whether you are posting or not, your presence is always here.

smile.gif Hello krissel,

I have been thinking about you and other members of my TS family. It seems like only yesterday when I arrived at the TS Board full of questions.
You have been there from the beginning of my journey into all things Mac. I really looked forward to your explanations and advice when I was having my computer problems.

I hope to be having my long overdue hand surgery, which had been postponed due to the surgery for my Cancer. It may be a little more difficult for the surgeon this time. My Chemotherapist and Radiologist believe all my bloodwork looks good and that I am now healthy enough to have the surgery done. After that, it will be thrice weekly visits to a hand therapist.

As always, I will be taking it one day at a time and praying.

Thank you for being so encouraging and supportive.

Myrna

We will be thinking of you and praying for a swift recovery from your next adventure.

By the way, you may not realize it but you have been an inspiration to many of us by showing such tenacity and strength in the face of such obstacles.

I have often used you as an example of how you can't be beaten down by adversity. Despite your maturity you have the stamina of someone much younger and the nerve of a SWAT team member.  wink.gif

Many Mac users probably have never reformatted and reinstalled their operating system let alone take apart their printer.

You put it perfectly, Krissell... we all have our problems, but MrsLop's - and her tenacity in dealing with them - put ours in perspective.

Hello Highmac,

I read the very touching tribute that you posted not too long ago about the reporter/journalist.

I wanted to reply, but it hit a nerve that I just not ignore.

Since we haven't "chatted" in a while, I just wanted to say "Thank You" for your good wishes.

Aloha Al,

I have been following all the threads about visits to you in your island "Paradise".

It's been a very long time since I have "chatted" with you. I was beginning to think I had offended you.

Thank you for the good wishes.

Well, when your all better, you should come here for a visit.  smile.gif

Sorry, been lurking the forum for a while, didn't mean to isolate you or anyone for that matter.  But, I was following your progress and noticed that for mac help, you were/are in good hands already.

Best to you.
