"Adventures in Internet and Email"
« on: September 15, 2003, 01:32:58 PM »
Hello All,

Crashes and freezes and hangs, oh my! Well I have to admit that I was stymied for a while.

By Friday night, I decided that I had had enough of the aggravation of losing my Internet service and Email. I decided to do another, yes, another clean reinstall of OS 8.5 and OS 8.6 and then download all new fresh copies of whatever I would need.

I had been getting so desperate that I even considered paying a MUG group member to do the clean reinstall and get me back up on the Internet.

After thinking about it, though, I decided that no harm would be done if it didn't work.

I threw away multiples of stuff that had been hanging around my hard drive and elsewhere first. I was simply amazed at all the multiples of things, many outmoded things that I had floating around.

Of course there were the usual conflicts while trying to get my Mac to be a good host to all the Extensions.

I have accomplished a good deal and I am making a great deal of progress.

As a result, I now have Internet and Email services - I downloaded all new versions of these as well.

From early Friday until very late Sunday evening, I was busy doing all of the above. It was well worth the extra steps.

Of course, I will probably need help from all of you about how to keep the system spinning like a top and in pristine condition. For right now, I am one happy Mac camper.
