Happy Birthday/Anniversary Techsurvivors!

I for one am very grateful that Techsurvivors is here. I have relied heavily on the experience, strength and hope that has been shared by many of the members.

It is comforting to know that I have a place to come and be with my TS family and friends, whether or not my Mac is in need or just want to chat.

Congratulations and well done Techsurvivors!

PS: Love the Banner.

I'm with you, MrsLop, this is a great place.  I've gotten some superb help here, but the best thing is the people.  They're so warm and fuzzy.   smile.gif

I first heard about TS from Bernie, when he answered a post of mine over on MacFixIt.com a couple of years ago.  At the time, MacFixIt was the only Mac forum I knew about.  Giant Mike also answered a post or two of mine over there.  Anyway, Bernie told me about TS and said it was like a family, so I came over to see what it was all about.  Bernie was absolutely right.  This place is just the greatest.  (Thank you, thank you, Bern!)   smile.gif

One thing I'd like to know is how TS actually got started.  Was it one person who got the ball rolling or several?  Did maybe a couple of people meet on another forum and discuss starting TS?

If any of you founders would like to chime in, I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to hear the story.  smile.gif

Thanks to you all for this wonderful place.  And Happy Anniversary, TechSurvivors!!!!   wub.gif

Russ, you can read the basics on this page.

Dick mentions the original 17 founders in the birthday thread who struggled to get this place going. We had several more refugees from the old NoWonder board interested in the very beginning but some had family, work and other pressing matters and couldn't give the time at that point.

We knew that they would be supportive and get the word out when the forum finally opened and indeed they did. It would be difficult to single out all the others who had a hand in helping TS get off the ground but it was comforting to find encouragement from many sources.

I think we have been very fortunate to have started with a core group of good hearted members who have grown into a warm and friendly bunch of net neighbors and a more than virtual family.

Thank you, Krissel.   smile.gif

Funny thing, just after I posted my prior message in this thread, I noticed the Happy Birthday thread.  So that told me all kinds of things about how you all began.  And Dick's poem is amazing.

You in particular have been so attentive to my questions, with all kinds of links and personal experiences.  That helps so much.

Even back several months ago when I had to replace my battery, you told me about how the little holder can be hard to get out, but to keep pulling on it and eventually it would let go.  That piece of advice was exactly what I needed because that little devil stuck just like you said and I might have given up without your warning!

I always look forward to hearing what you have to say.  Thank you for taking such good care of me.   wub.gif
