Problem 1- My main browser is IE 5.1.7. Up to now, whenever I opened an audio file on a URL, IE would open Quicktime with the small Player window and instantly played the audio flawlessly. For the last 2 days, instead of opening Quicktime, the browser opens its Download Manager, loads the audio file, and opens the iTunes window. I don't recall having made any changes that might have affected IE to act differently. How do I tell (retell) IE to open audio files with Quicktime without the disturbing loading of the files in the Download Manager?
Currently I have a problem with iTunes in that the audio breaks up when the iTunes window is up front. The audio is fine if I close the iTunes window. But that is a different problem which I have been chasing for sometime. It used to work fine with the window opened or closed. But that is another problem. I may come come back to TS if I am unsuccessful in resolving this iTunes problem.
Problem 2- I never tried to fix the following as I never knew how. Whenever I open an audio file on a URL with Netscape 4.79, Netscape 7.02, iCab 2.9, Opera 6.0, the browsers open their Download Manager, load the the audio file and open the Real Audio player. All browsers have the the Quicktime 6.0.2 plugin. Is there a way for all browsers to open the Quicktime player without the disturbing loading of the file in their Download Manager, like IE did until 2 days ago?
