So that's what the (main or close) problem is.
Thanks for the info!

Yeah. I'm not going to 10.2.8 until the bugs are worked out and it gets a clean bill of health.

10.2.6 is fine for now. dry.gif

I have a 533/G4 using ethernet to connect with and I'm typing this with the 10.2.8 update.  I haven't noticed anything wrong with my system except maybe it runs a little better.    whistling.gif

Great,

I waited until tonight to install the update, and the first thing I see when I come back here is this. Oh well, I haven't noticed any problems yet.  The problem isn't supposed to affect anything but a few Powermacs.  I did see that someone on the Maccentral feedback forums claims to have the problem on an 800 mhz imac (what I am typing this from) but so far, so good.

I guess I must be lucky, 'cause I've had no issues with the update...none so far, on either the G4 Sawtooth tower or the 12" Powerbook. The powerbook actually boots much faster.

I wish they had pulled it before I dl'd it. It really messed up a lot of things on my silver. I had to wipe the hard drive. I tried to backup from my slave drive, but CCC froze up 1/3 of the way through. sad.gif

I'll wait until OS X.x. . . . is ready for prime time.

(Still on 8.6 on the Mac).  :-)

If Apple releases 10.2.9 and then pulls that, no doubt 10.3 will be free. I know that is true because Bernie told me so. Devilish2.gif

Although 10.2.8 updater disappeared from
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120244> yesterday, the disappearance was temporary. Able to download the combo updater without any problem this morning. My 17" G4 iMac has been running on 10.2.8 without any problems since obtaining update via Software Updates.

Interesting, I had a problem with this update too, but it was with a beige G3.  I posted the problem on Apple Discussions about wierd activity with ethernet and Mail program.  Since it was a fairly virgin install of OS X, I tried wiping the drive clean and reinstalling 10.2.0 then updated again to 10.2.8.  Now all seems to work okay on that beige.

On my B&W it has worked fine so far.

I'm waiting.
Have only just really got back to the Mac after a bit of a break.
Saw the update and dire warnings here and at MFI at the same time.
Bad, bad, bad...

I've been burned twice now with Apple updates and I'm not risking another one till it's clear that it's clean.

Loved it, Harv.
If only!!
