I remember Apple including "software upgrade" coupons in my powerbook box but ultimately they were good for nothing.

CD Door: I think it's sweet! I love the vertical plane idea. It's kinda noisy, but nothing to bicker about. All CD-ROM drives (tray loading) are noisy. I just wish it would go up and make the "whoosh" sound from Star Trek

Software coupons. All that was included was the normal OS coupons three of them). Their may be some kind of upgrade promotion with them, but only Apple knows that for sure.

I love how the CPU monitor now shows two bars. While doing various activities, both of them will move to show the syemtric multiprocessor nature of OS X.

On the cd door sliding down.
Being as it will be internal as opposed to swiveling outwards one way or another.
What I was getting at before when I posted "a problem down the road" was what 'if' the door stopped functioning.?.
How hard would it be to get at the door from the inside?

Another thought is the actual brand name of the internal cd drive and maximum burning speed.
I was on a 1.8. and used toast 6 for a quick burn on some upgrades.
Saw that it was a sony and speed I didn't really notice but it had to of been 16x up.

The door operates on a simple spring and latch combo. When the tray comes out, it pushes a little button, which drops the door. When it comes back in, he button is released, and the door comes back up. I haven't looked too closely yet, but I would guess such a part would easily be accesable after removing the optical drive.

I opted for the combo drive to save a few bucks, so the brand in my G5 is a Toshiba. The speeds of this drive are as follows: DVD-R Read 4.8x, DVD-ROM 12x or 8x (depending on dvd type), CD Read 32x, CD-R write 32x, CD-RW write 10x.

Easily accessible compared to just pulling a swiveled door open in a pinch.?.

About time the internal cds/dvds got some decent speed.

I think it's not bad at all. Alot quiet than the 30 GB maxtor drive in my old G3. One of the quietest desktop hard drives I have heard (the iBook is quiet of course).
