What OS are you working with? There is an old Control Panel called CloseView that would be purrrfect for low vision. I know it worked in OS7.1 and I think up to 8.1 also.

When you say "low vision" do you mean the size of the text and images on the monitor needs to be enlarged? If that is the case, then yes, there are several ways Macs can do this. But which techniques are used is in part dependent on the operating system used. So if you can provide that, I am certain you will get many fine suggestions.

If you're using OS X, go to the Universal Access Preference Pane. It's built in.

Thanks everyone! I should have known that --- ding ding. We haven't gotten a computer for my friend yet but I wanted to do Mac. So glad there is a built in solution and we don't have to buy 300 and 400 dollar software!!

Calliethecat, if you can get to an Apple store, a VAR, a CompUSA, or a friend who is running OS X, perhaps your friend can try it out. The magnification that is in the Universal Access Preference Pane BOBW referenced goes up to 20X.

Best wishes and do let us know how things develop.
