OK, here's the place to post pics of our TS community dealing with the white stuff. If you have a shot of yourself and your trusty blower, shovel or whatever, let's see it. ( snuffy ) that pic you once posted of you and your nordic track is still vivid in my head     )

 Harv's house (pendragon)

 Harv's picnic table...moose burger anyone?

 Harv's alter ego

Bobun's front walk...the wind cleared it for him

krissel's sheds in the middle of the storm

Tuesday I tackle my driveway et al (it's still snowing a little as I write). Will post any good shots when I get done. I also have to shovel part of my roof as it has a 20' nearly flat section.

Kris:

You really aren't saying, are you, that as Harv sits comfortably inside that nice warm house, he sends his alter ego out into the cold to clear the driveway?

Oh well, he is/was an officer and a gentleman, so there are some things (like work) that are to be done by others                        .

Still snowing like crazy here - they're forecasting 20-30 inches by the time it stops sometime tomorrow!!!

My cat Simba cracks me up - she seems to forget about the outdoor conditions every time she asks to be let out and acts like it is a complete (and horrid) surprise every time. She made the mistake a couple of hours ago of leaping off the porch from snow up to her chin, into a drift at least 2 feet high - and promptly disappeared. She sure didn't like that - it was almost like watching a film being run backwards as she leapt back out of that drift. Creatures of the savannah do not appreciate this weather!

I'll post some pics tomorrow - of the giant snow pile!

Meanwhile, from the National Weather Service at 1:45 AM:

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
145 AM EST TUE FEB 18 2003

...THE PRESIDENTS STORM OF 2003 MADE THE TOP 10 LIST OF 24 HOUR SNOWFALL FOR BOSTON LOGAN AIRPORT AS WELL AS WORCESTER AIRPORT AND T.F.GREEN AIRPORT IN RHODE ISLAND...

AS OF MIDNIGHT MONDAY NIGHT 23.6 INCHES OF SNOW HAD FALLEN AT BOSTONS LOGAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THIS TIED FOR THE SECOND MOST 24 HOUR SNOWFALL FOR LOGAN AIRPORT...TYING THE 24 HOUR SNOWFALL FOR THE BLIZZARD OF 78 AND TRAILING THE APRIL FOOLS STORM OF 1997 WHEN 25.4 INCHES OF SNOW FELL AT THE AIRPORT. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IT
WAS STILL SNOWING AT LOGAN AIRPORT AT MIDNIGHT AND SO THIS 24 HOUR SNOW FALL RECORD IS IN JEOPARDY SINCE ALL THIS SNOW HAS FALLEN IN 14 HOURS. IT STARTED SNOWING AT LOGAN SHORTLY AFTER 10 AM MONDAY.

THE STORM SNOWFALL OF 23.6 INCHES ALREADY MARKED THIS AS THE FOURTH GREATEST STORM TOTAL FOR LOGAN AIRPORT. THIS STORM NOW TRAILS THE APRIL FOOLS STORM OF 25.4 INCHES...THE FEBRUARY 24TH THROUGH 27TH STORM OF 1969 WHEN 26.3 INCHES OF SNOW FELL AND THE BLIZZARD OF 78 WHEN 27.1 INCHES WAS RECORDED.

This is from Christmas week 2001, but it sure looks exactly the same here right now. The old '78 Heavy Chevy still pushes a lot of snow.

Can someone give me instructions on how to post a .jpeg on this thread?  I'll post one soon, once I hear how to do it.

The image you want to use must be located somewhere that is accessible on the net such as in a photo album at .mac.  The place it resides must allow "live linking" which means TS sends out a signal to retrieve the image from the site to post it here. Some sites do not allow this as it is often used too much and therefore lessens the available bandwidth on that site for other users. My pics are on the space my dialup ISP gives its customers on its servers.

Once you have the image online you need to copy the URL of it's location. Click on the photo and if it opens in a window of its own, copy that URL. Then on the reply to post page you will notice below the text box a number of buttons, one of which is IMAGE. When you are ready to add the picture to your post click on IMAGE and a new window opens. Past the URL of the picture into that window. Click OK and when you get back to the text box you will see the code for showing that picture. Leave it alone and finish your reply and hit Add Reply as usual.  Your picture will come in at the size it is posted on the other site so don't make it too big.

An easier way is to just post the link as I have done above. In that case you click on the URL button in the reply window, paste the URL , click OK, then type in a few words in the next pop up window to describe what it is. Click OK.

I strongly suggest that pics be put through Image Ready, Graphic Converter or a version of Photoshop or Colorit and reduced to under 100k, 50k or less if possible.

Cape Cod is covered with snow and our dog has short legs, so she sticks to the snowblower tracks that my husband made.  http://www.pbase.com/image/13177894

Well, here's a go at the instructions.  The picture is far from quality.  It was a cloudy day and the results was terrible.  Since this shot, we have gotten 10 additional inches.  people here say we still have the rest of Feb., March and April to go.  Our house will be under by then.

Next time I go out in the middle of it and not wait til the next day. Why?, cause the rise in temp today made the snow so heavy the blower couldn't handle it. Just a 30 degree temperature made that fluffy powder become like styofoam. I ended up shoveling much of what was too much for the machine. I only opened one door and walkway, the others will wait for spring.
Tomorrow, the roof.

I hope the postman comes

I got more of a workout than this guy

As annoying as this is, I surely can't complain after seeing  csonni's  picture. That I couldn't take. Isn't it amazing how mankind has adapted itself to the extemes of nature?

That would be me up there on my roof.  That was the 2nd time I had to get up there to shovel it off completely.  We have a truss roof, but with all that snow, we were getting some popping, so I decided I'd better clear it off again.  The snow we get in the Winter is quite dry (with most daytime highs of 0 F or below.  Come March, we'll have to be careful with the snow piling up that deep as seen in the picture.  She'd collapse for sure if that stuff was dense and heavy.  March is known as the "big snow" month.  There is usually several feet that fall during the month.  If all goes as usual, we'll have somewhere around 12 feet of snow before it starts settling from melting.

In comparison with the snows in Goose Bay, what we just had, they may well term a dusting.

Highs the rest of the week in the mid 40sF with rain on Saturday. Local flooding probable.

Some may reason this is the doing of Mother Nature. As for me, I just BIOB!
